Bashir Ahmad Urges APC Supporters to Stop Defending INEC

Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the president, called on supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to refrain from defending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding its perceived shortcomings. His statement was made in a post on social media on Friday night amidst ongoing disputes concerning the electoral body.

Reports indicate that the APC is backing INEC in a controversial decision to suspend the recognition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has faced criticism for allegedly suppressing opposition. Ahmad emphasized that blindly defending INEC's actions could reinforce allegations of bias favoring the APC as the general elections approach.

He expressed strong feelings that APC supporters should stop defending every shortcoming of INEC, asserting that doing so would only fuel claims that the electoral body is working in favor of the ruling party.
