Bauchi APC Caucus Rejects Governor Bala Mohammed's Defection

The Bauchi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus has openly rejected Governor Bala Mohammed's move to join the party, following a high-level meeting in Abuja on Tuesday night. The decision comes amid speculation regarding Mohammed's political future, particularly his reported intention to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by March 31, 2026.

The caucus, led by Senator Sama Ila Dahuwa, expressed concerns over Mohammed's past public statements criticizing President Bola Tinubu and the APC, indicating a lack of loyalty and trust. The caucus emphasized that admitting Mohammed would undermine the party's cohesion and electoral prospects in Bauchi State.

They also noted that there had been no public apology or effort from Mohammed to reconcile with APC members. Meanwhile, fresh indications suggest that Governor Mohammed may reconsider his plans to defect to the ADC, as he engages with loyalists and stakeholders within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to review his political options.
