Bauchi APC Urges Governor Mohammed to Expedite Defection

The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Bala Mohammed to hasten his defection to the party. During a press briefing on Thursday, spokesperson Aliyu Ilelah stated that the group welcomes the governor's decision and urged for a swift process.

Ilelah dismissed earlier claims by a faction led by Senator Sama Ila Dahuwa, which opposed the governor's defection, labeling those claims as misleading. He emphasized that the APC in Bauchi remains a diverse platform with various opinions and that the opposition to Mohammed's defection appears to be driven by personal factional interests rather than collective party integrity.

Prominent party stakeholders, including former Bauchi State Governor Muhammad Abubakar and ex-Speaker Yakubu Dogara, were noted to have rejected the opposition stance. Ilelah criticized attempts to create divisions within the party and called for prioritizing governance and service delivery.

He reaffirmed the APC's commitment to transparency and inclusivity, inviting the governor to formally join the party without delay.
