Bauchi Communities Displaced Amid Rising Bandit Attacks

In Bauchi State, communities, particularly in Alkaleri LGA, are experiencing significant security challenges due to recent bandit attacks attributed to criminal elements from neighboring states. The attacks have raised serious concerns, with reports indicating that approximately 10,000 armed bandits have invaded several communities, displacing over 100,000 residents.

Governor Senator Bala Mohammed, alongside the Bauchi State Police Command and other security agencies, has initiated measures to restore normalcy, including a visit to internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. The governor announced the release of 50 million naira for food and basic needs for the displaced.

He emphasized the need for urgent federal intervention and plans to recruit 2,000 youths for local security efforts. Additionally, a joint security summit involving Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Benue states is planned to develop strategies to reclaim affected territories and enhance community involvement in security efforts.
