Bauchi Governor Orders Appointees to Resign by April 2026

Bauchi State Governor Sen. Bala Mohammed has issued a directive requiring all political appointees who wish to contest for elective positions in the forthcoming party primaries to resign by April 24, 2026. This decision was communicated through a press release issued on Wednesday by the Governor's special adviser on media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

The directive aims to ensure full compliance with the statutory requirements for public office holders in the electoral process, as stipulated by the amended Electoral Act 2026. Governor Mohammed expressed appreciation for the contributions of the appointees to the development of the state and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Additionally, he instructed the appointees to hand over government properties and responsibilities appropriately to their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
