Bauchi State Directs Appointees to Resign for Elections

The Bauchi State Government has issued a directive requiring all political appointees who wish to contest for elective positions in the forthcoming party primaries to resign by Friday, April 24, 2026. This directive aligns with the provisions of the amended Electoral Act 2026, ensuring that appointees comply with statutory requirements regarding public office holders' participation in the electoral process.

Mukhtar Gidado, the governor's special adviser on media and public affairs, communicated this directive in a statement released on Wednesday. He expressed appreciation for the contributions of the appointees to the development of Bauchi State and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Additionally, Gidado stated that appointees must hand over government property and responsibilities to their respective offices within the relevant ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
