Bauchi State Recruits 850 Personnel for Healthcare Boost

The Bauchi State Government has recruited 850 skilled and unskilled personnel to strengthen its healthcare system, particularly in the primary healthcare subsector. Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, made the announcement during a one-day orientation and documentation exercise for the new recruits.

This recruitment aims to address manpower shortages due to retirements, deaths, and voluntary exits. Governor Bala Mohammed had previously approved the engagement of 151 volunteer workers and an additional 175 healthcare workers, including nurses and midwives.

The recruitment was necessary as many healthcare workers left the service without replacements. The distribution of the 850 positions among local government areas was based on the number of retirees, with Misau, Kirfi, and Warji having lower numbers of retirements.

The board completed the first phase of the exercise, which involved validating and documenting successful applicants, and is set to present engagement letters to the recruits, officially making them staff of the Bauchi State Government.
