Bauchi State Recruits 850 Health Workers for Healthcare

The Bauchi State Government has recruited 850 new personnel to address manpower shortages in primary healthcare centres. Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, announced this during an orientation exercise on Friday.

The recruitment was necessary to fill vacancies caused by retirements, deaths, and voluntary exits of healthcare workers. Governor Bala Mohammed had previously approved the engagement of 151 volunteer workers, and an additional 175 health workers, including nurses and midwives, are set to be employed soon.

The new recruits were allocated among the 20 local government areas based on their specific manpower needs. Misau, Kirfi, and Warji received fewer slots due to lower retirement numbers.

The board completed the verification and documentation of the recruits, who were officially appointed as staff of the Bauchi State Government. Dr Mohammed urged the new workers to commit to improving healthcare services, while Samaila Itimiya Liman, the Permanent Secretary, emphasized the importance of their roles.
