Bauchi Governor Distributes 186 Vehicles to Traditional Rulers

On Monday, October 23, 2023, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed distributed 186 vehicles to traditional rulers, including 14 GMC vehicles, 14 Toyota Hilux trucks, 14 buses, and 144 Toyota Camry cars, aimed at enhancing grassroots governance. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen traditional institutions and improve community engagement. During the distribution ceremony, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of traditional rulers as custodians of values and their role in maintaining peace and mediating disputes. He also announced the commencement of construction for a new palace for the newly established emirate, promising its completion by the end of his tenure. Furthermore, he reviewed the welfare package for traditional rulers, stating that previous provisions no longer reflected their responsibilities. Mohammed urged traditional rulers to manage public funds responsibly and avoid partisan politics, especially with the upcoming elections in October 2025. The event was attended by Abubakar Suleiman, the Chairman of the Bauchi State Council of Emirs, who welcomed the developments.
