Bauchi Man Arrested for Shooting Neighbor in Fatal Incident

Jabir Yusuf, a 25-year-old man, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly shooting his neighbor, 25-year-old Hassan Mohamed, in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The shooting incident occurred on Monday at Rinjin Gura village, via Zalau Ward.

According to a statement from the police spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, preliminary investigations revealed that Yusuf fired a Dane gun, striking Mohamed in the neck and causing fatal injuries. Following the report received at the Rishi Divisional Police Station, police operatives from the Gumau Division responded and transported the victim to Toro General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased's body was released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The police recovered the Dane gun as evidence and transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered a thorough investigation and warned against illegal firearm possession.
