According to the Bauchi State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the conflict began when Mai-Duna allegedly dumped weeds from his farm onto Kabiru Yusuf's land. This disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation involving both men and their children.

Following the incident, police arrested the suspects, and the victims were taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre, Yada-Gungume. Mai-Duna later died on admission, while Gagare was treated and discharged.

The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully.
