Bauchi State Perm Sec Alhaji Jalam Dies During Hajj

Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, the Permanent Secretary of Special Services in the Bauchi State Government, died during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Jalam, who held the traditional title of Turakin Dawakin Misau, reportedly fell ill in the early hours of Saturday while participating in the pilgrimage.

Governor Bala Mohammed expressed profound regret over Jalam's passing, describing him as a dedicated public servant who made immense contributions to the development of Bauchi State. The governor noted that Jalam played a significant role in the successful coordination of previous Hajj operations, which were entrusted to him by the government.

His death is considered a huge loss to the Bauchi State Government, his family, colleagues, and the wider community. A funeral prayer for the deceased was held later that day after the Zuhr prayer at the Holy Mosque in Makkah.

Governor Mohammed extended condolences to Jalam's family and prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdau.
