Bauchi Permanent Secretary Dies During 2026 Hajj

Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Jalam, the permanent secretary of the Special Services Office of the Bauchi State Government, died early on Sunday in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, while participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. His passing was attributed to a brief illness.

The incident was confirmed in a statement signed by Governor Bala Mohammed's special adviser on media and public affairs, Mukhtar Gidado, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Jalam, who held the traditional title of Turakin Dawakin Misau, was recognized for his dedication and hard work as a public servant throughout his career.

The state government described his death as a significant loss, not only to his family and colleagues but also to the entire Bauchi State community. Funeral prayers for Jalam were conducted on Sunday at the Holy Mosque in Makkah.

The government extended condolences to his immediate family and prayed for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and strength for his family during this difficult time.
