Bauchi Police Arrests Suspects in Child Death Cases

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects related to the deaths of two children in Alkaleri and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas. The first incident involved six-year-old Mubarak Ibrahim, who died after consuming a drink allegedly given to him by his stepmother, Fatima Ibrahim.
Mubarak showed severe symptoms after drinking the beverage and was taken to the Primary Health Care Centre in Kwaimawa before being transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gombe, where he died on October 24, 2026. Following a report from the village head, police began investigations, leading to Fatima Ibrahim's arrest.
The police have not confirmed any forensic results regarding the drink. In the second incident, five-year-old Jabiba Abubakar, who had been staying with relatives, was reported missing, and her body was later found in a pit behind the village.
Sadiku Musa was arrested in connection with her death. Police spokesman SP Nafi’u Habib described both incidents as tragic.
