Bauchi Police Arrest Two in Foiled Kidnapping Attempt

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested two suspects, 25-year-old Sunusi Muhammad and 20-year-old Idris Aliyu, for alleged criminal conspiracy, threat to life, and attempted kidnapping in T/Balewa Local Government Area. The arrests occurred after the police received credible intelligence from a concerned citizen about 10 days prior.

A male resident of Machiyar Kuka Village had been threatened with kidnapping and demanded to pay N1.5 million as ransom. Detectives from the Bununu Division initiated covert operations to thwart the planned crime.

Muhammad was apprehended at approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 11, 2026, while allegedly attempting to collect the ransom. During interrogation, he implicated Aliyu, leading to his arrest.

Both suspects confessed to the crime, and the case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers for their professionalism and the citizen for their timely report.
