Bauchi Police Rescue Man Held in Chains for 10 Years

Bauchi State Police reported the rescue of Babangida Moham, a middle-aged man who had allegedly been kept in chains by his 72-year-old father, Moham Lawal, for ten years in Shadawanka Village, on the outskirts of Bauchi City. The father resorted to this extreme measure due to Babangida's mental health condition, which he believed deteriorated after his son steadfastly refused to join a secret cult group during his school years.

Lawal confessed to restraining his son, claiming it was an attempt to control his mental health issues. Babangida's mother had divorced Lawal, insisting that her son should receive proper medical care instead of being chained.

Upon discovery, Babangida was found naked, with heavy chains secured around his legs. Bauchi State Police spokesperson, Nafi U.

Habib, confirmed that the victim has received medical attention at a hospital, and further investigations are ongoing to ensure accountability for those responsible. The village head, Muhammad Kabiru, also commented on the situation.
