Bauchi Police Rescue 17-Year-Old from Father's Chains

On February 16, 2026, the Bauchi State Police Command, led by DPO B Division, rescued a 17-year-old man named Muhammad Lawan, also known as Babangida, who had been illegally confined in a leg chain by his biological father, Moham Lawan, for 17 years. The police received information from a good Samaritan about the victim's condition.

Upon investigation, the police team successfully located and rescued Muhammad Lawan, who was found emaciated and without proper care. Following the rescue, his father was arrested and is currently in police custody.

The victim has been taken to a hospital for proper medical attention and rehabilitation. The police will conduct a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding this inhumane act, with the case being transferred to the state criminal investigation department for a thorough investigation.
