Bauchi State Government Invests ₦800m in Education Initiatives

The Bauchi State Government has undertaken significant educational initiatives, renovating 250 schools across the state and spending over ₦800 million to cover examination fees for 24,917 students. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Commissioner for Education, announced these efforts in a statement, emphasizing the administration's commitment to improving access to quality education.
The funds were allocated for students taking exams from various bodies, including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). The renovations were part of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank-assisted project, with the state contributing over ₦150 million.
Additionally, 12,133 adolescent girls benefited from conditional cash transfers under the AGILE project, aimed at reducing financial barriers to education. Plans are also underway to construct 42 new secondary schools across the 20 local government areas, enhancing educational infrastructure and safety measures for students.
