Bauchi State Begins Gratuity Payments for 2015 Retirees

On Monday, the high-powered committee on Verification and Payment of Gratuities to Bauchi State Retired Civil Servants announced the commencement of payments to retirees from 2015. This announcement was made during a press briefing at the Government House in Bauchi.
The Bauchi State government allocated N10 billion for gratuity payments, of which N5.2 billion has already been expended, leaving N4.8 billion remaining. The committee members, including Kola Oyerinde, Kabir Mohammed, and Ibrahim Inuwa, noted that the N5.2 billion covered payments for retirees from 2012 to 2014, encompassing both state and local government retirees.
Ibrahim Inuwa, the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission, PENCOM, stated that efforts are underway to modernize the civil servants' database to prevent misplaced files. He also mentioned that validation for retirees from 2017 to 2021 would occur, as current payments are for those validated from 2012 to 2016.
Comrade Ibrahim Maikudi, representing Organised Labour in Bauchi State, commended the government for this initiative and pledged support for clearing the backlog of gratuities.
