Bauchi Woman Killed Over Witchcraft Allegations

In Bauchi State, a 30-year-old woman named Habse Ubale was killed on July 28 after being accused of witchcraft in Garin Malam Village, Gamawa Local Government Area. The Bauchi State Police Command reported that the principal suspect, Garba Daudu (35), allegedly conspired with two others, Ya’u Garba and an unidentified individual, to attack the residence of Audu Sabo.

During the assault, Habse Ubale was attacked with a machete, while two children, Sale Audu (12) and Yakubu Audu (14), were assaulted with sticks. All victims sustained serious injuries, with Ubale later confirmed dead at the General Hospital, Gamawa.

Following the incident, police operatives, hunters, and vigilantes were deployed to the scene. One suspect was arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two others.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and potential prosecution. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the killing and warned against jungle justice.
