Bayelsa State Strengthens Ties with Angola's Namibe Province Through Economic Partnership

Bayelsa State in Nigeria is intensifying its diplomatic and economic relations with Angola by implementing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Namibe Province. Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State received a delegation led by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço to discuss the activation of the MoU.

The visit aimed to identify mutual interests in aquaculture, fisheries, and the blue economy sector, leveraging the natural resources of Namibe and Bayelsa's coastal regions. This move signifies a commitment to translating agreements into tangible economic outcomes.

The Nigerian-Angolan Bilateral Commission, established over two decades ago, has seen renewed engagement to ensure the effective implementation of agreements. The visit also highlighted plans for reciprocal visits between Bayelsa and Namibe governors to further solidify the partnership.

The collaboration between Bayelsa and Namibe is expected to enhance intra-African trade, attract investments, and unlock economic potentials in the coastal regions.
