Bayelsa Governor Diri Visits Fire Outbreak Site, Calls for Probe

On Saturday, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri visited the site of a fire outbreak in Yenagoa, which occurred on Friday, assessing the damage caused. Accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr.

Peter Akp and other officials, including Mr. Diton Amo from the Federal Fire Service and CP Daniel Iyamah of the Bayelsa State Command, Diri described the incident as unfortunate but expressed gratitude that no lives were lost.

He commended the quick response from fire services and neighbors, which helped prevent a worse outcome. The governor assured that relevant agencies would investigate the cause of the fire, which may have resulted from electrical faults, and noted that the area would remain shut down during the investigation.

Walamam Igrubia, Director General of the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that support would be provided to the affected victims. Eyewitness Pastor Ezekiel Oteibanyon reported hearing a loud sound and seeing smoke before raising the alarm.

The incident resulted in significant property damage, estimated in millions of naira.
