Bayelsa Governor Receives Ijaw Congress Report for Unity

On Friday, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri received the report from the eight-member Ijaw Nation Congress Reconciliation Committee at the Government House in Yenagoa. The committee was inaugurated on May 26, 2026, with a mandate to reconcile grievances and interests within the Ijaw nation, particularly in light of disputes arising from the presidential elections.

Governor Diri commended the committee members for their diligent work in compiling the report within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized the importance of the Ijaw Nation Congress as a vital institution for the Ijaw people, urging them to unite and address their collective challenges.

The chairman of the committee, Dr. Matthew Seiyefa, noted that the committee engaged with various stakeholders and received memoranda from different zones.

The report aims to provide a pathway to restore trust and cooperation among the Ijaw people, highlighting the need for advocacy and collaboration to enhance their collective interests.
