Bayelsa Governor Diri Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Peddlers

During the 42nd State Security Council meeting held at the Government House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri issued a stern warning to drug peddlers, emphasizing a continued crackdown on illicit drug activities. He announced plans for further demolitions of drug dealers' hideouts, specifically targeting an area known as Aboki Quarter in Yenizu Gene.

The governor commended the swift operations of security agencies and directed them to demolish any identified locations used for drug activities. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that Bayelsa remains a safe and hospitable place, particularly for non-indigenes.

Additionally, Diri addressed the recent violence linked to rival cult groups, which resulted in three deaths, and confirmed that the culprits have been arrested. In a related note, British High Commission Deputy High Commissioner Gill Lever visited the state to assess crime prevention programs, commending the state government for its efforts in youth empowerment and vocational training initiatives.
