Troops Arrest 20 Drug Peddlers, Defuse IEDs in Nigeria

Troops from the Nigerian Army, in coordination with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), apprehended 20 suspected drug peddlers during operations in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. This operation was part of a series of intelligence-led efforts targeting criminal networks across the South-South region.

Additionally, troops uncovered an illegal oil bunker site in Warri, Delta State, recovering a large quantity of suspected illegally refined petroleum products. On March 17, 2026, a similar anti-drug raid led to the arrest of suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of hard drugs in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states.

In a separate operation in Imo State, troops neutralized two suspects attempting to plant explosive devices and recovered six improvised explosive devices along the Kei route. Major General Michael Onoja confirmed that the troops would continue their coordinated efforts to disrupt criminal activities and protect critical national infrastructure.
