Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri Vows State Will Be Ready To Host 2028 National Sports Festival

Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri has pledged that the state will be fully prepared to host the 2028 National Sports Festival. During a visit by the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, to the Government House in Yenagoa, Diri emphasized that previous inadequate facilities had hindered Bayelsa from hosting such events.

However, the state has made significant investments in sports infrastructure, including the construction of a modern stadium. The NSC team inspected various facilities such as wrestling gyms, table tennis halls, medical centers, and security infrastructure.

Olopade praised Bayelsa's bid as impressive and highlighted the state's security efforts, including the installation of CCTV cameras to reduce crime. Commissioner of Sports Development, Daniel Igali, commended the governor's dedication to sports and praised the professionalism of the NSC delegation during the inspection.
