FG Okays Bayelsa as Host of National Sports Festival

The Federal Government has approved Bayelsa State as the host of the 2028 National Sports Festival, according to Governor Diri. The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that Bayelsa has the necessary facilities to host the event, including security infrastructure, medical facilities, and sports venues.

NSC Director-General, Bukola Olapade, praised Bayelsa as a peaceful and hospitable state with great potential in the sports sector. Governor Diri highlighted the state's investments in sporting facilities and security, assuring that the construction of an ultramodern stadium is on track for completion by 2027.

The NSC delegation, which included prominent sports figures, expressed confidence in Bayelsa's ability to host a successful event. The Governor emphasized the state's commitment to grassroots sports development and youth engagement through initiatives like the Prosperity Cup.
