Bayelsa Declares Work-Free Day for Tinubu's Visit

The Bayelsa State Government has officially declared Friday, April 10, 2026, as a work-free day and has ordered the closure of markets in preparation for President Bola Tinubu's visit. Ebiuw Koku Obiyai, the state commissioner, announced this decision on Thursday in Yenagoa, emphasizing the state's readiness to welcome the President, who is referred to as the "father of the nation." During his visit, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate four significant legacy projects, including the state-owned gas turbine in Opolo, a 60-kilometer dual carriageway, and a 630-meter bridge linking Angiama and Oporoma in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

Obiyai urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directive to ensure a smooth and successful visit.
