Tinubu's Historic Visit to Bayelsa: Infrastructure Inaugurations

On April 10, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Bayelsa State at 2:40 PM, marking his first official visit since assuming office on May 29, 2023. He was welcomed by a vibrant crowd and local leaders, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Douye Diri.

Tinubu's visit included the inauguration of a newly constructed road linking Yenagoa to the airport and a 630-meter bridge across the Nun River, aimed at improving access to the oil-rich Oporoma area. This infrastructure development addresses long-standing neglect in the Niger Delta, with previous administrations, including that of Goodluck Jonathan and Seriake Dickson, having initiated similar projects.

The President also inaugurated a 60MW gas turbine power plant in Elebel, emphasizing the need for reliable power to spur industrial growth. During a civic reception, Tinubu praised Governor Diri's efforts in transforming the state and reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to ongoing development projects in the region.
