Bayelsa State Government to Commence Power Distribution Project to Improve Electricity Supply

The Bayelsa State Government has announced plans to start a power distribution project to ensure a consistent power supply in the state. The government has installed a 60-megawatt gas turbine to tackle the issue of erratic power supply.

Hon. Ebiowu Koku Obiyai, during a monthly transparent briefing in Yenagoa, disclosed that the project is at a critical stage of installation and commissioning.

The government has invested N140 billion in capital projects between October and December 2025, with a commitment to fulfilling infrastructure development for the people. Despite a deficit in November, the state received N192 billion from federal allocations between October and December 2025.

Mr. Timinipre Seipulo, the Governor's Technical Adviser on Treasury, highlighted the government's efforts to diversify the state's economy through investments in agriculture, blue economy, and marine transport.
