Kano Government Appoints Sanusi II for Eid Durbar Leadership

The Kano State Government has confirmed that Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, will lead the Eid al-Fitr durbar celebrations this year. This announcement was made on Wednesday by Ibrahim Waiya, the Commissioner for Internal Affairs, who emphasized the government's commitment to preserving cultural heritage and ensuring public safety.

The decision comes amid renewed tensions within the Kano emirate, particularly following the notification regarding the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero. Due to security concerns, the government has adjusted this year's durbar activities, including modifications to the traditional hawan nasarawa event.

The hawan daush and hawan fanisau events have been suspended, and residents are urged to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel to prevent the spread of unverified information. The government has expressed confidence in the measures taken to ensure a peaceful and successful Sallah celebration across the state.
