Kano Government Denies Snubbing Emir Sanusi at Eid

The Kano State Government issued a statement clarifying that Governor Abba Yusuf did not snub Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The statement, signed by the governor's spokesperson Sunusi Tofa, described circulating reports as false and unfounded, warning that such claims could create unnecessary tension.

The governor traditionally pays homage during the Sallah period; however, the Eid-el-Fitr celebration coincided with an annual strategic meeting of Nigerian governors, necessitating the governor's presence outside the state. The statement emphasized that the governor attended the Eid prayer led by the Emir and that arrangements were made for a senior government official to receive the Emir on behalf of the governor.

It was noted that Governor Yusuf was reportedly in Lagos for an official meeting, which caused the scheduling conflict. The Kano State Government reiterated that there is no rift or misunderstanding between the state administration and the Emir's council, and their relationship remains cordial, anchored in mutual commitment to peace and unity in Kano State.
