BEDC Attributes Power Outages to National Grid Allocation Cut

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has announced that recent power outages and load shedding across its franchise states are due to a reduction in electricity allocation from the national grid. This statement was issued on Friday by the company's head of brand and corporate communications, Evelyn Gbiwen.

BEDC clarified that the supply shortfall is not a deliberate attempt to deprive customers of electricity. The company disclosed that the drop in allocation has disrupted activities in homes, businesses, and healthcare facilities within its coverage area.

BEDC dismissed claims that Edo State is uniquely affected, stating that the state traditionally receives a substantial portion of its daily energy distribution across its three operational regions. The company assured that it will implement load management measures in line with existing service level agreements to mitigate the impact of the reduced supply.
