On Saturday at approximately 6:20 p.m., Mr Akinyemi Bamidele, a technical linesman for Benin Electric Distribution Company (BEDC), sustained injuries due to an electric shock while performing maintenance on the 11kV Basiri Feeder in the Ado-Poly Satellite Campus area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The incident was confirmed by the company's Head of Branding and Corporate Communications, Mrs Evelyn Gbiwen, in a statement released on Tuesday.

Bamidele suffered burns to his arm and other body parts and was promptly taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for treatment, where he is reported to be in stable condition and responding well to medical care. Gbiwen stated that BEDC is committed to the safety and well-being of its employees and is providing necessary support to Bamidele during this time.

An investigation into the incident has been initiated, with appropriate measures to be taken based on the findings.
