Amadou Onana Out of World Cup Due to Knee Injury

Amadou Onana, a 24-year-old midfielder currently playing for Aston Villa, has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. This injury occurred during Belgium's 4-1 victory against the United States in the last 16, as confirmed by the Belgian Football Federation on Tuesday.

The team doctor, Brahim Hacen, stated that medical examinations revealed the rupture of the ACL, marking a devastating setback for Onana and the Belgian national team. Following consultations, Aston Villa and the Belgian medical team will jointly determine the best approach for Onana's recovery.

Despite the injury, Onana will remain in North America with his teammates until at least the quarter-finals, where Belgium is set to face Spain on Friday in Los Angeles.
