Benue APC Crisis Deepens as Deputy Governor Disowns Communique

The political situation within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has deteriorated as Deputy Governor Sam Ode publicly disowned a controversial peace communique issued following a recent reconciliation meeting. The communique, which circulated widely on Tuesday, claimed that party leaders had agreed to grant automatic tickets to current officeholders for the upcoming 2027 elections.

Ode, who chaired the committee that drafted the communique, described it as fraudulent and asserted that it was manipulated by unknown individuals to lend legitimacy to the meeting's conclusions. He emphasized that no member of the drafting committee had signed the document, and he expressed shock that someone had attached their names to it.

Ode further clarified that the decision regarding automatic tickets rests with the national leadership of the party, not individuals, distancing himself from the claims made in the communique.
