Benue Assembly Majority Leader Thomas Dugeri Joins PDP

Thomas Dugeri, the Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly and representative of Kwande West State Constituency, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. His formal reception into the PDP took place in Abuja, where he was welcomed by former Benue State Governor and PDP leader Samuel Ortom.

The event occurred during Dugeri's first meeting with Ortom since announcing his defection, with the deputy chairman of the PDP in Benue State, Adzua Ashongo, presenting him. Dugeri expressed gratitude to Ortom and other PDP leaders for their warm welcome and thanked party members in Kwande and across Benue for their acceptance.

He affirmed his commitment to the PDP and his intention to collaborate with party leaders to strengthen the party ahead of the upcoming elections. Ortom assured Dugeri and his supporters that the PDP would offer equal opportunities to all members, emphasizing the importance of unity in regaining power in Benue State by 2027.
