Benue State Resettles Yelewata Attack Victims with N1.25B

Benue State has commenced the resettlement of victims affected by the Yelewata attack, as announced by Mr. Deborah Aber, the chairman of the technical committee, during a press conference in Makurdi.

The state government has received donations totaling N1.25 billion from various donors, including Sen. Oluremi Tinubu (N1 billion), the Nasarawa State Government (N150 million), and others.

The funds will support not only the Yelewata victims but also other internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state. Governor Hyacinth Alia has set up a committee to ensure effective application of these funds to meet the needs of the affected population, which include food, health, shelter, education, and livelihood support.

The resettlement plan includes the construction of 60 homes for the displaced, with funding allocated for various essential services. Additionally, 5,883 IDPs have been enrolled in the Benue State Health Insurance Agency, ensuring access to medical care.
