Benue State Government Enhances Yelewata Rebuilding Efforts

The Benue State Government, under the leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia, is making significant strides in rebuilding Yelewata after the 2025 attack. The administration is combining immediate humanitarian support with a structural resettlement program aimed at restoring stability and dignity to affected families.

Governor Alia has disbursed N56 million in direct cash aid to 1,000 verified households, providing N50,000 to help families meet essential needs such as food, medicine, and small-scale trade. A specialized committee, led by Solomon Orpev, has been deployed to verify beneficiaries and ensure that every naira reaches its intended recipients.

The resettlement program focuses on returning families to their ancestral land, with 5,883 internally displaced persons (IDPs) enrolled in the Benue State health insurance scheme. New medical and sanitation facilities are being constructed to improve public health and protect against diseases like Lassa fever.

The administration is also building 60 new two-bedroom homes and classroom blocks in Yelewata, with 53 of the 60 structures already reaching the lintel level.
