Benue Governor Calls for Rescue of Abducted Girl

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has urged security operatives to deploy to Akpet in the Asaba community of Apa Local Government Area to rescue a young girl who was abducted by suspected armed herders. The incident occurred during an attack on farmers working on a cashew farm, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people.

Earlier police statements indicated that six bodies had been recovered. In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary, Kula Terso Alia, the governor described the attack as a terrorist act and condemned the violence against farmers, emphasizing that they do not deserve such a cruel fate.

He expressed sympathy for the affected families and assured that the state government would work closely with security agencies and community leaders to enhance protection in vulnerable areas. Governor Alia reaffirmed the administration's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties across Benue State.
