Benue Governor Lowers Fertilizer Price to N28,000

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia announced on Thursday that the state will sell fertilizer to farmers at a subsidized rate of N28,000 per bag. This initiative is part of the launch of the 2026 fertilizer farm input sale and distribution exercise.

The governor stated that the government will cover the balance of N28,000 per bag to alleviate the financial burden on farmers ahead of the farming season. Alia emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the procurement process, ensuring that all inputs reach the intended beneficiaries.

He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to developing a modern and commercially viable agricultural sector capable of creating jobs and driving economic growth. The governor also encouraged investments in critical agricultural infrastructure, including rural roads and irrigation systems, to support year-round farming.

Additionally, he urged relevant authorities to adhere to established guidelines to ensure the success of the fertilizer distribution exercise.
