Borno State Launches 2026 Wet Farm Season with Subsidies

On a Wednesday, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum launched the 2026 wet farm season at Kwaya Kusar, announcing a 50% subsidy on fertiliser and the distribution of free agricultural inputs to 120,000 farmers. The initiative includes 200 truckloads of NPK fertiliser, 40,000 litres of agrochemicals, 5,000 water pumps, 5,000 knapsack sprayers, and 10,000 bicycles.

This comprehensive agricultural support program aims to boost food production, improve livelihoods, and strengthen the agricultural value chain in the state. Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of using the subsidized fertiliser strictly for agricultural crop production and warned beneficiaries against selling it.

He acknowledged the support from President Bola Tinubu's federal government, which enables the state to implement people-centered development programs. Additionally, Zulum announced a N500 million cash support package for vulnerable persons, including women and youth across five local government areas.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including former Deputy Governor Usman Mamman Durkwa.
