Plateau State Governor Mutfwang Launches Fertilizer Subsidy

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has announced the procurement of approximately 500 truckloads of fertilizers and the approval of a subsidy program aimed at boosting agricultural output in the state. The subsidy will reduce the price of a 50kg bag of fertilizer from the prevailing market price of ₦50,000 to ₦20,000.

This initiative is designed to enable farmers to access essential agricultural inputs without delay as the planting season approaches. Governor Mutfwang stated that the subsidy is a direct response to the rising costs of farm inputs, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and sustaining profits for farmers.

The distribution of fertilizers will cover all 17 local government areas in Plateau State, with the governor emphasizing that agriculture remains a major pillar of his administration's development agenda. This intervention aligns with the broader agricultural development objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's federal government, which aims to alleviate economic hardships and increase food production across the country.
