Adamawa State Launches 50% Subsidized Fertilizer Sales

The Adamawa State government, led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has initiated a program to sell fertilizers at a 50% subsidy to support farmers for the 2026 rainy season. This initiative aims to reduce production costs and boost agricultural output as part of the state's commitment to food security and economic growth.

The program was flagged off in Yola, with Salihu Idri, the Commissioner for Agriculture, announcing that the subsidized fertilizers will be available to farmers across 21 local government areas. The fertilizers include NPK 20-10-10 sold at ₦23,000 per bag and NPK 27-13-13 at ₦27,000.

Idri cautioned beneficiaries against diverting or reselling the fertilizers, emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring that genuine farmers benefit from the scheme. This intervention reflects the administration's focus on modernizing agriculture, increasing productivity, and improving farmers' incomes.

The state government is collaborating with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to enhance access to international markets for agricultural products.
