Benue Investigates Suspected Mpox Case in Konshisha

The Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services is investigating a suspected case of Mpox reported in Konshisha Local Government Area. Health Commissioner Dr.

Paul Ogwuche disclosed this information in a statement on Saturday, following reports of a suspected case at the residence of Tyokula Achihi. Upon receiving the report, the ministry activated its surveillance system and dispatched a team to the area for assessment and sample collection.

Dr. Ogwuche emphasized that skin rashes and fever can stem from various medical conditions, and laboratory confirmation is essential for a proper diagnosis of Mpox.

He noted that no Mpox outbreak has been confirmed in Benue State. The ministry collaborates with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other partners to ensure effective public health responses.

Dr. Ogwuche urged the public to remain calm and report any symptoms to health facilities.
