APC Lawmaker Urges Tinubu to Address Benue Killings

Hon. Onyeche Blessing Onuh, the member representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the rising violence in Benue State.

In a letter dated July 28, 2026, Onuh reported that more than 50 individuals have been killed in her constituency over the past month due to repeated attacks by armed assailants. The situation in Otukpo and Ohimini local government areas has become alarming, with communities such as Otukpo-Nobi, Akpachi-Ugboju, Agadagba, and Efeyi experiencing significant casualties and destruction.

Onuh emphasized that the ongoing violence disrupts economic activities, particularly farming, and poses a serious threat to food security. Despite previous efforts to alert authorities, the violence persists.

She requested the deployment of additional military personnel, the establishment of a Joint Task Force, and the approval of an Otukpo Army Barracks to enhance security. Additionally, Onuh called for emergency humanitarian assistance for victims displaced by the attacks.
