Aondoakaa Calls for Peace After Campaign Material Destruction

Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State, called for calm among his supporters following the destruction of his campaign materials. In a statement made available to journalists in Makurdi, Aondoakaa, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice during the late President Umaru Yar’Adua's administration, condemned the burning of campaign T-shirts featuring his image.

He urged his supporters to refrain from retaliatory actions and to uphold the principles of peace, security, justice, and tolerance that his campaign represents. Aondoakaa stressed that the aspirations of the people cannot be extinguished by such acts of provocation and encouraged his supporters to choose peace over violence, stating that the cost of peace is far less than that of violence.

He emphasized the need to differentiate between movements that inspire and those that intimidate, urging unity and a focus on constructive political discourse.
