Thugs Abduct Mortuary Attendant to Halt Mass Burial in Benue

On Thursday, March 5, 2023, thugs abducted a mortuary attendant at the NKST Hospital located in Jato-Aka, Kwand Local Government Area, Benue State. This abduction aimed to prevent a planned mass burial for victims of a bandit attack that occurred in Tyungu Jam, Mbaav community, where several people were killed and others injured.

State Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the killings as senseless and barbaric, while Solomon Iorpev called for security operations to apprehend the attackers. The mass burial, scheduled for Thursday, was disrupted when thugs invaded the hospital, sealing it and denying families access to the bodies.

The Progressive Congress Benue described the act as disgraceful and alleged that it was sponsored. Local leaders, including Alex Barbir and Iorbe Ihagh, expressed solidarity with the affected families and condemned the violence, emphasizing the community's right to mourn and bury their dead with dignity.
