Youth Leader Killed in Suspected Herders' Attack in Benue

A youth leader was killed in a suspected attack by armed herdsmen in Ondo Community, Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State. The incident occurred on a Sunday, resulting in the death of the youth chairman and leaving several others injured.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the attack, which took place around 6:10 PM. Following the incident, the police deployed tactical teams and senior officers from the Benue State Civil Protection Guard and other security agencies to the area to apprehend those responsible.

This attack is part of a series of violent assaults in the region, deepening fears and worsening the security situation in Benue South. In response to the attack, angry youths staged protests, blocking the Otukpo-Agatu road, burning tires, and causing significant traffic disruptions for several hours.

They called on the federal and state governments to take urgent steps to end the recurring violence in their communities.
