Delta State Gears Up for 2027 Governorship Election

Political activities in Delta State are ramping up in anticipation of the 2027 governorship election, despite the official campaign season not yet commencing. Factors such as grassroots support, zoning, candidate popularity, political alliances, voter awareness, party cohesion, and the credibility of the electoral process are expected to play significant roles in determining the election's outcome.

Chief Tony Ezeagwu, the Delta State Chairman of the Labour Party, stated that the party has completed necessary preparations and is focused on strengthening its structures statewide, ensuring agents are present at polling units. The Labour Party plans to campaign across all 25 local government areas, seeking support from all eligible voters rather than concentrating on specific blocs.

Ezeagwu emphasized that the party's financing would rely on donations from supporters rather than a single wealthy sponsor, highlighting the party's acceptance among ordinary Nigerians as a major strength.
